Upper Church Fork has several springs that flow from ground that has been fractured by movement along a normal fault. The Normal fault enters Church Fork near the Pipeline and Grandeur Peak Trail Head (TH) Faults.

Map Units shown in the left image include Weber Quartzite IPw, Park City Formation Ppc, Woodside Shale TRw, Thanes Limestone TRt, Ankareh Formation TRa, and Navajo Sandstone Jn, all the units that are exposed in Mill Creek Canyon except the oldest Map Units.
