Glacial moraine deposits from Alexander Basin cirque below Gobblers Knob reached Mill Creek and abutted against the opposite valley wall, probably at least 18,000 years ago. Present-day Mill Creek eroded through the moraine about 30 ft. (3 m.) below the road. Glacial information

The most prominent rocks are the Permian Park City Formation (Ppc) marine limestones overlain by lower Triassic Woodside Shale (TRw) Map Units .
