In early 2007 the Utah State Legislature requested the UGS to establish a ground-water monitoring-well network in Utah’s west desert, in response to proposed water-development projects in east-central Nevada and west-central Utah.

Sensitivity & Vulnerability to Pesticides

Sensitivity is determined by assessing natural factors favorable or unfavorable to the degradation of ground water when pesticides are applied or spilled on the suface. Vulnerability is determined by assessing how ground-water sensitivity is modified by the activities of humans.

Ground-Water & Paleontology Program

    The Ground-Water & Paleontology Program (GWPP) maintains and publishes records of Utah's fossil resources, provides paleontological recovery services to state and local governments, and evaluates the quantity and quality of Utah's ground-water resources. The GWPP also manages a paleontological training program for amateurs and provides state government and the public with detailed studies on paleontological and ground-water resources.
