Sunnyside
Cogeneration Power Plant
The Sunnyside Cogeneration plant, located in the town of East Carbon, uses waste coal from the old Star Point and Sunnyside mines. The plant uses a fluidized bed combustion system and burns about 500,000 tons of waste coal each year. The Sunnyside plant was built in 1999 and has a capacity of 58 megawatts.
