for the Association of American State Geologists 101st Annual Conference, June 21-24, 2009 held in the beautiful and exciting Park City, Utah.

The Association of American State Geologists (AASG) represents the State Geologists of the 50 United States and Puerto Rico. Founded in 1908, AASG seeks to advance the science and practical application of geology and related earth sciences in the United States and its territories, commonwealths, and possessions.

The conference is organized into three days of business sessions, and pre-, mid-, and post-conference field trips. A theme for this conference will be the role that state geological surveys play in providing objective information on geologic resources, hazards, and the environment. Utah has a long history in balancing the needs of resource development and protection of areas with special geologic values. The field trips will highlight this balance, as well as showcase Utah’s stunning geologic beauty.
